Welcome

Hello everyone! I have read many blogs about home decorating, such as Dreamy Whites, CityCottage, and Canadian Cottage (they are all fantastic!) and have begun to decorate my own home. As my title suggests I love all things rustic and most things white. I will be sharing my trials and tribulations of decorating in a home with 1 husband, 4 teenage sons, 2 male dogs and 1 male cat. I am trying desperately to decorate my home with a feminine touch. Please take a look at my photos as my husband and I start by decorating our livingroom. Hope you enjoy our decorating journey:o) Pleae feel free to email me at rusticandwhite@bell.net

Some finds at a local auction!!

I love going to the auction with my husband.  We enjoy each others company a lot! We laugh, joke and buy.  I have taken some pictures of what we found today.  I usually find the stuff and then we bid together.  Once we were bidding against each other and didn't even know it.  The auctioneer, god bless him, did notice and then the crowd started laughing once he pointed it out.  Needless to say now we make sure where the other is when we start to bid.  Hope you enjoy what we brought home.  I am so excited because bringing home new stuff means starting new projects:o)

This pic shows the pile of wood we bought for $4.00.  We weren't sure what
was inside the bunch but we were willing to take our chances.  I love
surprises don't you?

This is the side view.  We just piled everything in and then headed for home.
We spent a total of $25.00 for all our finds.  We feel like we hit the jackpot!!

Doors to a sideboard probably.  New shelves for me!

Don't you just love the detail?  This will be beautiful painted white with
old brackets hanging on my wall.  Ooohh I am so excited:o)

Three different drawers.  At least one of them is getting
painted a light gray and then it will be
used in my newly decorated laundry room.  (Pics of that room later)

More pieces of yummy goodness.

I sure hope you have enjoyed this little preview of all my luscious finds.  I will be sure to show them to you once they are all spruced up!

Bye for now!

Carrie

Spring has not sprung!

I do not enjoy waking up to snow when the calendar says spring!  I was so excited on the weekend when I saw my first robin...they are my first sign of spring.  When I looked in my garden I saw my tulips that I planted last year just coming up through the snow...very exciting.  I guess I will have to hold onto these two signs of hope that spring will come to us eventually.  In the mean time I have a few more pictures of my living room to keep me happy.  I am hoping they are better than the others I posted.  I think I may have to get a better camera.  Enjoy the rest of the week everyone!

This mantel is nothing to write home about  but it does the job for now.  We purchased it a few years ago at
an antique store in Prince Edward Garden.
There is my chippy blue stool again...still loving it:o)

We went to a FANTASTIC garage sale last summer.
The woman was redecorating her home and was selling
almost all of her furniture.  We my hubby and I purchased several pieces.
This desk we got for $50.00.  Not the cheapest piece but beautiful nonetheless.

Love this shelf I bought at a flea market near
Chicago last summer

The blue hat in the centre was the one my dad used to always wear.
It is a constant reminder that he is always with me.  Unfortunately he died 15 years ago...sometimes it
feels like yesterday.

That's it for now...see ya!!

Ta Da...our livingroom is done...at least for now:o)

Hello all, I found some time over March Break to take pictures of my living room.  Here are just a few.  Hope everyone enjoys them.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hydrangeas from my very own garden, dried.
They are oh so feminine...

As we decorate our rooms are they ever really done...don't tell my husband this but I don't think so:o)

Love my white couch...but I must admit I cover it up when we all go to work.
I have two very large dogs who love to roll in mud and then
jump on my furniture.

My beautiful chippy blue vintage
stool.  I just love it!!

How do you feel about old white painted frames...I know how I feel:o)
Well that is it for now.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by.  I will be uploading more pictures soon.  Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!

It has been soooo long...

Well, I have not entered anything for quite some time. So sorry about that. I have been very busy with a new position that for the last four months took most of my time and all of my energy. My family has been awesome with helping around the house, especially my wonderful husband!

Now that I feel like my head if well above water I plan on posting pictures of my living room that is finally complete...that is almost...I just have one more piece of furniture to paint and distress it...it is a little sofa table that my husband and I found at a flea market last fall. It was only 5 dollars. Gosh I love getting a good deal.

Looking forward to sharing my photos with you very soon. Also, a quick thank you to all you wonderful bloggers who continue to inspire me.
